Thoughts on Sukkos

As we sit in our sukkah, eating our delicious fluffy Challah, and lifting our eyes to the sky through the branches above. We are meant to think about the Ananei HaKavod—the Clouds of Glory—that enveloped our ancestors in the Midbar. Those clouds gave more than shade and direction. They offered protection, comfort, and the deep assurance that H’ is watching over them and caring for Am Yisroel.
In many ways, our efforts at BFI today echo that same message. Each loaf given is not only about easing hunger, but also about offering dignity, comfort, and a sense of security. Just as the Ananei HaKavod wrapped our ancestors in an embrace of divine protection, so too does the act of providing bread wrap those who receive it with the knowledge that someone cares, and that they too are held within a warm sheltering embrace.
By distributing bread with compassion, we extend the lesson of the sukkah beyond its seven days- becoming a living example of H's Kindness in this world, like it says Just as He is merciful so should you show mercy!
