Hunger Doesn't Take a Summer Break

When school lets out for the summer, childhood should be filled with sunshine, laughter, and carefree days.
But hunger doesn't follow the school calendar.
For thousands of families across Israel, summer can actually be one of the most difficult times of the year. Children are home longer, they eat more meals at home, and the grocery bill stretches even further. Even those attending day camps come home hungry after a long, active day, and parents are left wondering how they'll provide enough food for the days and weeks ahead.
That's why our work doesn't slow down when summer begins.
Fresh bread continues making its way to hundreds of distribution locations across Israel, helping parents put a basic necessity on the table. A loaf of bread may seem simple, but to a family struggling to make ends meet, it brings nourishment, relief, and one less worry.
One recipient beautifully expressed what these deliveries mean:
"You are messengers sending down Mann."
Another wrote:
"With deep appreciation—what a huge chessed with something so essential for the house."
We asked the volunteers if we should lower the amount of bread during the summer break.
Here is a sampling of the feedback we got:
“If anything, we need more!”
“The older boys are home from their dorms and we need to feed them too!”
“Families go on trips and are making sandwiches to take along so we need more bread than usual!”
This summer, while children are growing, playing, and working up healthy appetites, we'll continue making sure that families have one less burden to carry. Thanks to our dedicated supporters, fresh bread will continue reaching the tables of those who need it most.
Because hunger doesn't take a summer break—and neither do we.
